Desperate for family advice. My stepson will not work nor want, he sponges of his mother and she just gives?

him everything, feeds clothes and waters him and he just takes takes take. I got a chimney sweep friend of mine to offer the ungrateful sponger a job. I am sick and tired of him what can I do to make him act his age (he is 12 next birthday), I can't give my wife an ultimatum as i rely on her wages to live on as I don't have a job.......please help.
