CAN I TURN MY STEPSON IN FOR HACKING THE PS3?

Can I call the cops on my step son for hacking the PS3? I know that it was hacked by some bad people that brought the system down now I don't think his hacking abilities so far had any role in that as a matter of fact I think his hacks only allow him game advantages but I feel as a parent Hacking is illegal and I warned him not to do it on this PS3 however he just does what he feel like and I am fed up can I turn him in?
